Bob Burns Republic 75th
BOB BURNS AND GUESTS SHOWING OFF A CLASSIC LYDECKER MINATURE FEATURED IN THE FILM VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA

Los Angeles, CA, Despite a very hot summer day the fans came out in large numbers to see the stars from Republic Pictures. Some noteworthy celebrities included Anne Jeffreys, Ann Rutherford, Joan Leslie, Adrian Booth, Coleen Gray, Shirley Mitchell, Jane Withers, Hugh O’Brian, Ben Cooper, Marjorie Lord, Dick Jones, Tommy Cook, Donna Martell, Marsha Hunt, Eilene Janssen, Anna Maria Alberghetti, Jane Kean and Peggy Stewart. The celebration was held on the original Republic Pictures backlot located at the Studio City CBS Studio Center. The fun filled day included celebrity speakers’ forums, memorabilia and merchant stands, live music and entertainment, Republic Pictures movies, serials and trailers, children’s activity center, food and drink; not to mention a place where the fans could get together and see the stars of yesterday.

Some unexpected vistors included former child star Robert Blake, numerous technicians, stunt men, make-up artists, and many other professionals involved with Republic Studios. One of the highlights of the day was a live forum with Bob Burns about the contribution of the Lydecker Brothers; who influenced many future FX artists and directors. To quote one fan," I always wanted to see how those 1940's cliffhanger serials were made and now I can!" The fun lasted all day and it was sad to say goodbye to a wonderful piece of Hollywood history. Happy 75th Anniversary Republic Studios!
