Revenge of the 2011 EYEGORE AWARDS

One of the funniest lines of the night came from outside the 2011 Eyegore Awards. When actor Sid Haig was asked if he experienced the “House of a 1000 Corpses” maze, he replied, “Yea, It was pretty cool. I went through it last year. It was funny that one of the guys who was playing my character jumped out at me and saw who I was and screamed in fear!”

Sid Haig

Eyegore Awards were back with an evil vengeance and returning for the 4th year was host Cory Feldman who had plenty to say, “This is the EyeGore awards where things go bump in the night- no not those things in Hollywood.” Feldman laments, “They bring me back every year because they know one of these years I am going to do a good job. Not this year- this year we are going to stick with the same old mundane repetitive senseless humor.” And so began the night of horror.

Thomas Jane and David Arquette

Some of the highlights included David Arquette who proudly received an Eygore Award. David said, “This is a big honor. I believe in Horror films. I love what they do here every Halloween celebrating the freaks.” David is no stranger to the horror genre. His first major role was Buffy the Vampire Slayer- his latest horror project is Dancing with the Stars!

Bailee Madison

Upcoming star Bailee Madison was happy to be acknowledged at the show for her role in Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Bailee admits, “I am so scared of anything scary so for me ‘Don’t be Afraid of the Dark’ is nothing compared to Halloween Horror Nights. Watch the clouds of Chainsaws.”

Alice Cooper Banner

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper received an award but could not attend the show. In a prerecorded video feed Alice professes, “This is quite an important thing for me because this is where the Wolfman, Frankenstein, Dracula, and all the classics were born, and now I am in that same class… well not really but I try to do my best!”

Universal Theater

One of the most endearing introductions came from Rob Zombie who tells the story of casting Rainn Wilson, “It has been 10 years since casting my first film The House of 1000 Corpses. Casting the film’s bad guy is easy. It is easy to find psychos like Karen Black, Sid Haig and Sheri  (Zombie) those roles went fast. But there was one role I could not find the right person. We went through tapes and tapes. I said all of these dudes are boring.

Stage

We found this one guy who was tall and a little bit dorky with glasses but he had some spunk. So I showed Universal the tape and I said that is the guy. They said we don’t think this guy knows how to act scared. So we had to drag him back to audition. That actor was Rainn Wilson who you take one look at him and say I want to chop him in half and put a fish body on him.”

Cory Feldman and Thomas Jane

The very amused emmy nominated actor said, “ I never thought in all my life that I would be standing here at the Eyegore Awards with all you freaks- this is pretty cool. Has anyone in this room seen a movie that doesn’t involve a cheerleader being shot in face with a shotgun? Do you guys know who Katherine Heigl is? You weird horror freaks? I really want to thank the greatest ensemble that I ever worked with….. Steve Carrell  Ed Helms, John Krasinski (Office reference).

Cornfield

I want to thank Rob Zombie- if he doesn’t get the performance he expects from you he will murder your entire family. I get recognized for a lot of different things; occasionally there is a Juno, sometimes very rarely there is a rocker, but the thing I love the best is when people see me and yell fishboy!”

Arquette Slide

David Arquette once said I can relate with more people at a horror convention than I can with most Hollywood executives. Until next year’s awards we will have to wait for the next horror convention! Halloween Horror Nights will be running until Halloween at Universal Studios.

The spooktacular 2010 Eyegore Awards!!

Los Angeles Review News 2010 Eyegore AwardsUniversal Studios held the 2010 Eyegore Awards paying tribute to director Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel), Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses), Christopher Llyod (Piranha  3D, Back to the Futrure), Tobe Hooper, (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Lifeforce), Betsy Russell and Gina Holden (Saw 3D).
The show was hosted by Corey Feldman; including appearances from Rob Zombie and True Blood star Mariana Klaveno who presented an award. The night was full of chills and delights with plenty of previews, film shorts, and the film short competition where filmmakers had a chance to win $1000, broadcast their film on the SyFy Channel, and win a free trip to the awards courtesy of Universal Studios and Rob Zombie. The winning short was “Jasper” directed by Elizabeth Scheiffe; a short film about an old woman who loses her cat. The film was both funny and scary fitting the theme of the celebration!

The highlight of the night was the lifetime achievement awards given to Sid Haig, Tobe Hooper, and Christopher Lloyd. Sid Haig comedically commented that he was waiting for Quentin Tarantino to resurrect his career but he had to settle for Rob Zombie!!

Some of the other guests who attended the show include Bill Moseley (Devil’s Rejects), Caroline Williams (Halloween 2), Courtney Gains (Children of the Corn), Tom Malloy (The Alphabet Killer), and Chance Michael Corbitt (Lost Boys) who reunited with co-star Corey Feldman.
