REC 2 DVD Review

REC 2

REC2 DVD Review-  It is very rare that a sequel outdoes an original but I believe this is a rare instance that REC2 is better than the original and completely conquers the clunky English remake Quarantine. The credit really goes to directors Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza who know how to make a use of a camera. The idea of bringing in helmet cameras to capture a high definition picture yet still keeping the picture straight so you can see all the action is great. I can’t tell you how many times, including the remake Quarantine, that I have no idea what is going on! This is NOT the case in REC 2, all the shots are carefully orchestrated like a fine dance and made to look like chaos but the audience sees every scary moment. I also want to add that the original REC had all those same elements. REC 2 is like REC on steroids with great shots, scary possessed zombies, impossible spooky situations and a surprising ending. This film takes the time to explain the outbreak and what it really means for the people inside and outside the building. It also introduces a priest who has a secret agenda to find the young girl who was the original source of the disease/possession. This film is not a shaky Blair Witch, what just happened, exercise in high definition video but rather a story. I highly recommend REC 2.
